Diákhitel Központ Zrt.

As a state-owned, non-profit organisation, Diákhitel Központ Zrt. has been providing supplementary funding to those wishing to pursue studies for over 20 years.

Through our products we provide targeted funding under favourable conditions to finance day-to-day livelihood, and to cover the costs of studying.

application conditions

You can apply for and be granted a Student Loan, if you:

  • are under the age of 45, and

The last semester a student loan may be disbursed is the semester during which the beneficiary turns 45.

  • are a Hungarian citizen, or
  • have been granted refugee status, or
  • have a settlement or an immigration permit, or
  • have the right of free movement and residence in Hungary under the titles set forth in the Regulation, and

Titles set forth in the Regulation:

  • Pursuant to Act I of 2007 on the Entry and Residence of Persons with the Right of Free Movement and Residence, EEA citizens who are staying in Hungary for longer than three months to perform earning activities, and the family members of such citizens who are entitled to stay in Hungary for longer than three months,
  • Family members of Hungarian citizens performing earning activities, who are entitled to stay in Hungary for longer than three months,
  • Persons who are entitled to permanent residence pursuant to the Free Movement and Residence Act.
  • have a valid student status with an institution of higher education, and

  • have your place of residence entered in the personal data and residents’ registry office.

Student Loan 1

If you would like to receive financial assistance for everyday livelihood, you should opt for the freely disposable Student Loan 1 with exceptionally favourable interest conditions, even when you study abroad in the European Economic Area as a Hungarian citizen.

  • You can apply for up to a monthly HUF 150,000, totalling HUF 1,500,000 for the academic year
  • Apply online in minutes using an electronic signature with your Governmental Portal (Ügyfélkapu)
  • Repayment starts after the end of your studies, depending on your income
  • No penalty fees for early repayment, you are free to do so at any time

DIÁKHITEL INFORMATIONS

Student Loan 2

If you need funds to pay the prime cost of your studies, you should opt for the interest-free Student Loan 2, which can pay for up to the entire cost of your studies. The applied amount in HUF will be transferred directly to the institution of higher education, so it will indeed pay for your studies. Similarly to Student Loan 1, you can apply for Student Loan 2 online in no time, using an electronic signature, and start repayments after your student status ended, depending on your income.

  • If you study in an institution of higher education in Hungary
  • You can apply for the entire prime cost of your studies

  • Repayment starts after the end of your studies, depending on your income

Study Loan

If you need funds, because your school charges a fee for your studies or training, you should opt for the interest-free Study Loan. The amount will be transferred directly to the institution of education or training, so it will indeed pay for your studies or training.

You can apply for and be granted a Study Loan, if you:

  • have a registered account with the government portal (ügyfélkapu),
  • are under the age of 55,
  • are a Hungarian citizen or
  • have been granted refugee status or
  • have a settlement or an immigration permit, or

  • have the right of residence in Hungary under the titles set forth in the Regulation, and

  • are actively enrolled in vocational training or in adult education,
  • and have your place of residence entered in the personal data and residents’ registry office.

  • You can apply for up to HUF 500,000 if you are in adult education
  • In vocational training, however, the amount of the training fee is the ceiling you can apply for
  • The duration of your study or training course must be at least three months
  • You must pay at least 20% of the training fee
  • The amount you apply for will be transferred directly to the institution of education/training in two installments
  • You can apply for it at any time throughout your study or training course
  • 0% interest rate, no hidden costs
  • Use an electronic signature to apply online in only minutes
  • Repayment starts after the end of your study/training course, in accordance with the loan duration of your choice
  • No penalty fees for early repayment, you are free to do so at any time
